We all trust that the shippers and handlers will take care, but sometimes accidents happen and this is why we have shipping insurance.

Shipping Insurance protects your package contents, and covers your goods for loss or damage. Without shipping insurance, all packages are handled, stored and carried at the shippers, owner’s and consignee’s risk.

 

How Is Shipping Insurance Calculated?

Any shipments in value over $100 start at a small fee of $2.50, from there we use a calculation to determine fees on a sliding scale.  To make things simple, you’re looking at about $1.50 insurance per $100 of package value.

If you shipped and did a claim directly with the shipping company, you would be paying substantially more for your insurance, and the claims process would be much longer.

In your shipping dashboard you will see a “Make a Claim” button, from there you answer a few questions and your claim is submitted.

You will see that all of your information has already been filled out meaning less work on your end!  Simply scan the information to ensure it is correct, fill in any missing information or required detail about your claim and submit.

If the claims team has any questions they will be in touch with you, if not the process will begin right away and you will be kept in the loop on the progress.
